Week 9 EOC: Creative Content

As a photography major I plan on bringing my product to life in a photographic way. I will get all the contents of my product, combine them and put them into a bowl. Of course since this is a pub snack I will do it in a grungy yet classy way. I plan on having a dark backdrop with the Phileas Fogg logo I have designed plastered on the background with the snack as the main focus. I plan on using a light box made out of a diffusing material to prevent harsh light, I will be using natural lighting. The camera I will be using is a Nikon D3100 with a 70-300mm lens as well as a 50mm lens, whichever one give me the better shot. I will also have my camera mounted to a tripod to give me the best focus and clarity for my photo. Since my snack contains many components I will take individual shots for all of them to make sure I capture each texture of each snack. I then will make a magazine layout utilizing all the shots I choose, I will create this using Adobe Photoshop and possibly Illustrator. I will utilize the basic design layout skills that I have learned in my design layout class. This will allow me to show off my creative photography skills and bring my product a little life. This project will also help me with my food photography skills, I have not really been able to do a lot of food photography; so by doing this project how it is stated above I will have a better understanding of food photography.

Week 8 EOC: The Adventure

Its been a long and adventurous 80 days around the world, now its back to London where I may or may not be arrested for a crime I did not commit.  But first, a trip to my local pub for a nice, warm, real ale.  I parked my balloon in a field a few miles away so I don't get swarmed right away. The people in the pub cant tell their left from their right so I am not worried about them noticing me. I walk into the pub and the smell of it burns my nose hairs, I am home. The usuals are sitting at their tables, stains everywhere on their clothes and fly's swarming. As soon as I walk in I see my favorite barmaid, her hair up in a bun and as shiny and brown as possible, the usual. Her curvy figure and perfect smile, I don't understand why she is a barmaid still to this day. I am instantly greeted by her at the bar and she hands me my ale as soon as I sit down. A few minutes pass and a ruckus starts up, my balloon has been spotted. I hop over the bar and under the bar maids dress, I know very ungentleman like of me. She jumps and screams " What in the boldly hell are you doing?" before I can reply I am back under her dress and the guards come storming in. "It has come to our attention that Phleas Fogg has returned but no one knows his whereabouts. If any of you know this is your chance to speak up." Some burps and farts escape but no one says anything, you have to buy them a beer first. One lad jumps up and walks towards the guard, points in my general direction, now Im doomed. The guard walks over to the bar and sees my foot, thats when I take action. I hop out of the dress, over the bar and deck him in his face. Oops. Luckily theres only two. The other comes storming at me but knocks over someones beer, now he's done it. Worst mistake of his life."Oie, you've knocked me beer over you wanker!' he shouts. The guard stops in his track and kicks the whole table over, now he's really done it.Every one in the bar starts attacking him, less for me to do. I still have to handle this old lad. He grabs me by the leg, knocks me too the floor and begins to repeatedly punch me. Next thing I know theres broken glass all around me. I open my eyes in time to see the guards eyes roll up into the back of his head, I roll out of the way just before he crashed to the ground. As soon as he's down I see my favorite bar maid with the handle to a glass in her hand and a cheeky grin on her face. "Ive always wanted to do that" she screeches. By the time I have my guard down the other is hung up by his underpants on a busted stain rail, out cold. I then can enjoy my ale. As soon as I sit down my stomach makes the most god awful growl, great Im hungry. All of a sudden I know what I want.  I want pork rinds, no wait, Twiglets, I want Twiglets, or do I want crisps? Due to all that traveling and fighting I decide on all of them. I hand over my money to the barmaid, I really should learn her name, and give her my order. All three sit in front of me now, where do I start..... Oh I know! I ask for a dish. I then proceed to pour all the contents of each snack into the bowl. Grab a handful and have never been as delighted to eat all of them at once. I take a sip of my even warmer pale ale and realize this is perfect. All 3 snacks go great with my favorite drink. I should patent this but what do I call them?
"Oie, barmaid" I shout.
"You bloody cheekie bastard, learn my name!" she responds.
Fine. "What is your name?' I ask but she never says.
"You've lost your chance now you wanker." she responds.
"You come in here for your cheekie beer and a cheekie snack and expect me to answer to barmaid over and over again!?" she continues to shout unnecessary content to me and it hits me. Beer Cheekies! I'll call them Beer Cheekies.

Implementation Evaluation Control

Implementation:
To promote business ads will be placed in a variety of different networks. A website will be launched with business growth to transport products all over the world. Flyers with coupons attached will be sent out and placed in mailboxes so everyone can see. In order for the business to grow all these tasks must be done and in place before the end of the year.

Evaluation:
The company will maintain an evaluation to make sure that the company is meeting its implementation plan. If not Beer Cheekies must make some more changes to keep up with the consumer world and guarantee satisfaction and sales.

Control:
To ensure Beer Cheekies keeps up its plan and objectives control over a marketing budget will be put into effect. The budget will be controlled so that it is only allowed to be used for marketing strategies such as: Ads, Events, Flyers etc. Without the control Beer Cheekies may not last, a company is no use if the world doesn't know you exist.
*Below is some feedback my friends and family have given to me about my snack.*

"it does belong in a pub, its' salty and will make someone buy more drinks!"
"I would eat it in a pub, or in a box with a fox....."
"Perfect pub food!"
"Perfect nibbles to wash down with a pint."

Like every other business I need to make a profit. By doing so I will take a 10% profit from each bag sold a ($0.45) profit. This leads to an overall price of $4.93 per bag, or in the United Kingdon the total price would be £ 3.46. "this amount would be too high a price in poor countries and not high enough in rich ones."

"More importantly, as a part of a company’s overall value proposition, price plays a key role in creating customer value and building customer relationships."

Promotion

"Any paid form of nonpersonal presentation and promotion of ideas, goods, or services by an identified sponsor." Beer Cheekies will be promoted through a variety of ways. The Number one way is on in a magazine or newspaper ad. Middle aged men or older are the typical pub goers, they are the ones who read the newspaper or look in magazines. Another way would be to have an online advertisement on numerous social media applications, that will attract the younger people to the snack at the pubs. By attending events like fairs and parades it will allow my company's name and consumer base to expand to those who do not have any form of social media and do not read the newspaper. "Consumers have become more deal oriented,"  by doing a few sales a few times a year it will cost my sales. This allows me to attract all the age groups to try my product and get my name into the world.
"A company’s total promotion mix—also called its marketing communications mix—consists of the specific blend of advertising, public relations, personal selling, sales promotion, and direct-marketing tools that the company uses to persuasively communicate customer value and build customer relationships. "

Distribution

"physical distribution—involves planning, implementing, and controlling the physical flow of goods, services, and related information from points of origin to points of consumption to meet customer requirements at a profit."Distribution will start at the factory the snacks are made. They will be bagged, boxed and shipped out to their destination of stores and pubs all around the United Kingdom. "Supply chain management - Managing upstream and downstream value-added flows of materials, final goods, and related information among suppliers, the company, resellers, and final consumers." Snacks are made in a factory where they are all combined and put into their 200g bags. After they are bagged they go through a series of conveyor belts that determine their destinations. While on the conveyor belts they are examined for any imperfections by staff. At their end on the conveyor belt they are met by a worker who transfers them into a box where they are taped up, put in a palette of many and shipped off to their final locations. "Companies must decide on the best way to store, handle, and move their products and services so that they are available to customers in the right assortments."; Some cities are so small that a semi just won't make it through so they will be put onto transportation vans similar to a Fedex van.

Product

"We define a product as anything that can be offered to a market for attention, acquisition, use, or consumption that might satisfy a want or need." My product is Beer Cheekies, they are a mix of Walkers Cheese and Onion Crisps, Twiglets Pretzels, KP Dry Roasted Nuts and Mr. Trotter’s Pork Crackling. My snacks go great with a variety of English beers making them a perfect snack to eat at a pub. Not only will the consumers have a delicious snack but the pubs will benefit from selling them. The saltier the snack the more the consumer will want to drink causing more sales. "Product is a key element in the overall market offering. Marketing-mix planning begins with building an offering that brings value to target customers. This offering becomes the basis upon which the company builds profitable customer relationships."

Target Market Strategy

"The company’s marketing strategy outlines which customers the company will serve and how it will create value for these customers." Beer Cheekies will serve all those who wish to enjoy a snack at the pub. The most poplar age group would be the older middle aged gentlemen who go out with their mates for a beer. Beer Cheekies will create value for its customers through quality and satisfaction. If our product gets to the consumers and they are not u to company standard then they are not up to consumer standard, With that we will give the customer a full refund or a new bag of Beer Cheekies. We will follow "the customer is always right." If they are not happy neither are we and we will do anything to keep the customers satisfied and happy."The marketer develops an integrated marketing program that will actually deliver the intended value to target customers. The marketing program builds customer relationships by transforming the marketing strategy into action."

Situation or SWOT Analysis

"Managing the marketing function begins with a complete analysis of the company’s situation. The marketer should conduct a SWOT analysis, by which it evaluates the company’s overall strengths (S), weaknesses (W), opportunities (O), and threats (T)."

Strengths:
Consumer based.
Leave people wanting more.
Customer satisfaction guarantee.
Attend events.

Weaknesses:
Other competitors
Price

"The goal is to match the company’s strengths to attractive opportunities in the environment, while eliminating or overcoming the weaknesses and minimizing the threats."

Opportunities:
Expand the company to other countries.
Expand the flavor options of the snack.
Keep up with the times.
Sponsor events and or sports.

Threats:
Competitors offering a better deal for a lower quality snack.
"the company faces more competition and competing brands are less differentiated."

Objectives

"Sales can be increased by improving the company’s share of domestic and international markets. These goals then become the company’s current marketing objectives."
Beer Cheekies Company Objectives:
Human Resources to ensure the well being and safety of the employees at all times. Hiring only the best workers to provide the best services while at work. Maintaining employee benefits. And listen to what the employees have to say about the well being of the company.
Customer Service Business managers maintain their own set of objectives on providing the customers with excellent service. To make sure that the customer is happy with the product, price, quality and/or service. And to reduce the number of customer returns and their complaints, and to respond in a timely manner.
Sales and Marketing have a sales and marketing team to keep the business up to its full potential at all times. Keep the product quality to its best and keep the company name to the highest standards. To lower costs to competitor pricing to attract new customers, or to introduce a new product to appeal to a larger demographic.
Financial Expand the company and grow its earnings hopefully in the next year and a half. Make shares available for investors and shareholders by improving cash flow and building a trust with the surrounding environment.
"Each company must find the game plan for long-run survival and growth that makes the most sense given its specific situation, opportunities, objectives, and resources."

Business Mission Statement

"Mission statements should be meaningful and specific yet motivating. They should emphasize the company’s strengths in the marketplace."

Beer Cheekies statement is as follows; “A Great British pub snack that was created on a new level of snacking, saltiness and deliciousness when it comes to the pub munchies. They’re not just good, they’re bloody good.”
"mission statements should be market oriented and defined in terms of satisfying basic customer needs. Products and technologies eventually become outdated, but basic market needs may last forever."

Week 6 EOC: Me x 3

These three brands I would say represent me; Im always using one of the three on a daily basis if not all of them.

Silly Putty
I have use Silly Putty for as long a I can remember, it is a part of not only my childhood but also my adult hood. I have ADHD which means I am always moving, always shaking my legs most of the time unattentionaly as well as playing with whatever is in my hands at that moment. I have used other forms of putty but I always go back to Silly Putty, the original, they have the best out for the best price and too me that makes them a trusted company.

Nikon
My first camera was a Nikon, and when I upgraded to a DSLR I had to get a Nikon. I never understood why I always chose Nikon until I came to this school. I used my first Canon camera here at the AI two years ago and hated it. They are cheaper but you get what you pay for. Nikon had very durable lenses and feel great while using them because they are sturdy. Canon is very cheap plastic that feels unsteady in the hand and light. Light isn't bad but too me its because they make their lenses so cheap and light. They have barley any grip on them so focusing them is horribly. Another think I like Nikon for is because they make it simple, they add the necessities that a photographer needs all in a simple manner. A button for this and a button for that. Canon doesn't do that, you have to go through a complicated menu system the chance what you need and it is very easy to skip due to the mobility of the scroll. With Nikon I get great customer service and an amazing durable camera I can shoot with.

Apple
I enjoy using Apple products, my computer is and Apple and I also have an iPad. The only product I do not have is an iPhone. I have gone through four different laptops and computer brands all infected with faulty hardware and viruses even with a virus scanner, they never got noticed. When I got my Mac it was in 2011 my freshman year of high school and I still today use the same one. I have only had 2 problems with it all that were fixed by Apple in an amazing time. My CD drive quit of course after my warranty wore off and they fixed it in less than 24 hours for an amazing price compared to other companies, I only had to pay for the part, the install was free. The other time I had to wipe my hard drive due to the age of my laptop. I reinstalled the old software but was unable to update it t the newest one. I took it to an Apple store, told them the problem and in 20 minuets it was fixed, all for free. Because of the great customer service and an amazing computer and tablet Apple has a customer for life.

Week 5 EOC: Social Networks and Job Hunting

With the new technology that is around today social networking has been made much easier than ever before. With the few types of some buttons and clicks online you have an advertisement up in no time. A new vacuum created in the 1990s the Roomba changed vacuuming forever. "People love their little Roombas. They name them, talk to them, and even buy a second Roomba so that the first one won’t be lonely." I know from just looking at Roomba's and their competition they are the number one consumer choice for a self functioning vacuum and have made it so far in the industry because they were the first to be and are still here today. They have what the consumers want."Beyond offering consistently high value and satisfaction, marketers can use specific marketing tools to develop stronger bonds with consumers." Many companies today in order to survive do what is stated above in quotes. If they build a special relationship with their customers, they will keep going back. I have an uncle who will only buy Ford because they are American made and stand by what he stands for. They treat him wonderfully and give him the best deals when he has to go take his car in for a simple oil change. When it comes to job hunting people want to work for their favorite company. They do their best to get hired because they like what the company promises or like what their policies are, they want to be a part of the company who will do anything to keep their customers happy because it will make them feel like a better person. Social Networking and job hunting are linked together. Due to social networking people know what the best is and want to work for the best.

Week 4 EOC: My App

                                                                The Word Counter
One problem today is the lack of actual conservation, kids today would much rather text of go on social media to talk. To help them realize how bad at physical communication they are, and help them to fix it, I have developed the Word Counter.Much like the fitness tracker on your phone, the word counter keeps track of the amount of words you have said in a day. It is programmed to only pick up the sound of your voice so that other conversations nor the TV will disturb it. The Word Counter is designed to constantly run but with little to no battery drainage. Keep in mind that the app only counts the number of words spoken, it does not keep track of what the words that have been said were. This app is completely free but like most free apps it will run advertisements, only when the app is open and they will show up as a banner on the bottom of the screen. Today, we still need communication, especially when it comes to getting a job. The Word Counter will help the users set word count goals so they can help improve their communication skills.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

The belong to the 83 million children born between 1997-2000, the Millennials. The Millennials have three age groups, the tweens, teens, and adults who age 19-32. We have a total of $733 billion in spending power and make up a big attractive market. "One thing that all of the Millennials have in common is their utter fluency and comfort with digital technology. They don’t just embrace technology, it’s a way of life. The Millennials were the first generation to grow up in a world filled with computers, cellphones, satellite TV, iPods, and online social networks." As a kid I had the opportunity to watch cartoons in the morning before school, listen to music on portable devices without a casket or CD present, and search the web for anything I wanted (with my moms consent). Even though I was born into this generation I was only allowed an hour of internet access or an hour of TV but never both. I was encouraged by my mother to go outside and play, those are the memories I am most fond of. We are looked down upon because we spend too much time on technology and not enough in the great outdoors. We hear a lot "back in my days" and overtime we speak up about technology we get an even bigger earful of "I don't care." I was born with the knowledge and presence of technology. Personally I love technology because without it many life saving medical equipment wouldn't exist. Technology is our future and will never die out, it will instead continue to advance in the world providing newer ways of doing things. We are the future, some of us are good and some of us are bad, some are glued to technology and some aren't, thats inevitable. There is good and bad in every generation. I personally consider myself to be a good millennial who hope to make a difference in this world, someway, somehow.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

One non-profit organization that stands out to me is The Coral Reef Alliance. This alliance was founded in 1994 to protect coral reefs that have been physically harmed from human activities. CRA improves reef management, reduces local reef threats, ensures that tourism is sustainable, and helps the communities benefit all while protecting their reefs. When they go underwater to do their work they keep in mind the social, cultural and economical needs of the community in which the reef is located. In 1995 they received a $72,000 grant for the protection of the Rock Island Marine Park. A year later they launched their membership program which allows volunteers to help in the offices with research or just stuffing envelopes all while learning about the reefs. This organization also reached out to share its knowledge as to why we need to keep the reefs protected to dive clubs, schools and different communities around the country. In 2003 they were selected by USAID to lead a $600,000 three-year program to foster the sustainability of the coral reefs in the Mesaomerican Barrier Reef System. Three years later they "received recognition for CRSD conservation success internationally: World Tourism Forum on Peace and Sustainable Development, the Central American Congress on Protected Area Management, and the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force meeting."

For a more detailed version of their organization visit the Coral Reef Alliance at: coral.org

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

I am not the biggest fan of Denny's but during family game night none of us wanted to cook, needless to say we ended up at Denny's. Once we stepped in we were seated quickly due to the lack of people dining in and started deciding what to eat. Shortly after we ordered we hear a big crash coming from the kitchen, it was my mom's food. Our waitress came by our table and explained what had happened and that she was sorry. Not to mention it was the last pot roast they had to serve.  Our waitress was so upset with herself that she had the manager bring us the rest of our food to prevent any more accidents. The manager had my moms dinner taken off of the tab and gave our whole table of 6 free desserts. It's great because normally the dinner is taken off the tab and that's it. But instead the whole table got treated to a tasty, well tasty for Denny's, dessert.
In my opinion Denny's treated the situation like they should typically do in situations like this. I've been to many different Denny's where the service was horrible; those are the Denny's I refuse to go to ever again. However the Denny's in Tehachapi, CA is probably the only one I will go back too due to its very nice employees. The employees were all very nice and approached us with happy attitudes and a smile. Our waitress also brought us refills on our drinks before we were half way done with them. Even while walking out of the restaurant all the employees, even the ones who didn't serve us yelled their whole thank you's and have a nice day to us. We all left happy and satisfied with our service and free chocolate lava cakes with ice cream.

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

I am a photographer, plain and simple. When I wake up all I really want to do is go on an adventure and take some great shots. I know many different forms of photography and many different ways to get a great shot. The techniques I know range from proper studio set up to on the spot, last minuet, only can use the supplies at hand. My mind is full of stories I want to tell the world by using only one photo at a time. I strongly believe a picture is worth a thousand words, knowing that whoever sees my photos all think a different story, no two stories are the same.
